Album Info:Birmingham was a new city in the 1880's and in need of a Big Train station. Originally, when the railroads started service, they simply built next to an existing hotel, The Relay House. As you can imagine, this did not work very well. So, in the late 1880's, the new Birmingham Union Passenger station was built. There are very few pictures of this station as most people took pictures of the Terminal Station. I have been collecting the ones that I can find, most of them so far being from Post Cards. Here is what I have so far. I will add to this gallery as I find additional ones. If you find one, PLEASE let me know.

Union Station, Birmingham, Alabama
Title:  Union Station, Birmingham, Alabama
Description:  This is a new view of Union Station from the other side of 20th St. There must be a train arriving shortly as we see at least 3 buggies lined up waiting to pick up someone. This was posted on Facebook by J.D. Weeks. I love the note on the post card "This is quite a bustling little place for the size. I can tell you."

Postcard view of the rear yard and main track at Birmingham Union Station. The only building that is still there, as far as I can determine is the Power Company Steam plant on the right side of photo. In this photo you can look directly down Morris Ave. T

OK - this one is not of Birmingham Union Station directly, but you can see the roof of the station above the bridge on the extreme right. It shows the trackage into the station soon after the grade seperation was completed. This is actually an interesting
