Zepplin vs Railroad Station |

While a new station is being built in Birmingham, the Zepplin Mooring Mast on the Thomas Jefferson Hotel is being restored 3 blocks away. (Talk about intermodal!) The Hotel, Later the Cabana Hotel, was finished in 1929. No Zepplins were known to have ever docked there. The Hotel, after being closed for about 30 years, is being rebuilt as apartments. The Mooring Mast will be lite at night. |

On the left is the new Ticket Counter. On the right will be To Trains. If you have a good eye, you can see the end of the passage and the wall. After Amtrak moves, this wall will be taken down to continue the passageway into the existing Amtrak waiting room and on to the tunnel under the tracks to the trains. |
