End of the Line
The movement to save the Illinois Central freight depot was not successful. AlaGasCo is now tearing down the building. The brick will be saved and used to build a new building at Rickwood Field in Birmingham (oldest professional baseball park in the country)

Bernie Feltman General Bob, prior to "hiring on" with the old Atlanta, Birmingham & Coast @ Lineville, my grandfather worked on the Illinois Central seniority district out of Birmingham. As an operator, clerk, agent, I'm pretty sure he would've worked at this depot. Where is the exact location of this soon to be demolished structure? 5/1/2014 2:25:54 AM
Bob Hasty General This is located on 14th Street at the end of Morris Ave. The L&N had a roundhouse right across the street at one time. Immediately to the left of this building is the crossing of the L&N's S&NA south and the Southern's AGS district, It is known as 13th St on CSX and 14th St on the NS. IC had their roundhouse and yard, with yard office at East Thomas Yard (shared with the Frisco) about 5 miles away. 5/1/2014 5:24:56 PM
